I am pleased to announce that there is a new tool for fruit growers worried about the occurrence of anthracnose on their berries. It was previously available to folks in Florida but has recently been expanded to southern Georgia as well. You can find it at AgroClimate – Blueberry Advisory System. This allows you to pick a location and get notifications about when you need to treat for fungal diseases, or you can visit the website to see the same information. This expansion is thanks to Clyde Fraisse and his team at the University of Florida who run AgroClimate, and was moved along quickly at the request of Andy Harrison, Jerome Crosby and the Georgia Blueberry Commission because of the potential for diseases following the recent frosts. In the future, I hope we can expand it to other parts of Georgia as well. If you have any comments or suggestions, you are welcome to send them to me and I will pass them on.
