Today is the last day of March, so here is a quick look at the monthly statistics. Keep in mind that it does not include this morning’s precipitation, which ranged from 0.5 inches to 2.0 inches across the drier areas of the Southeast, so the final numbers will be somewhat wetter than what this preliminary map shows. The temperature across almost all of the region was warmer than normal, with a few cooler than normal spots in Alabama. Rainfall was fairly close to normal in most areas with the exception of a very wet band across the northern part of the Florida peninsula and southern Georgia where a stalled front brought a lot of rain to that area. The driest areas in the coastal plains of Georgia and the Carolinas did receive rain today, as mentioned earlier, so the final map will show some of the yellow areas of drier than normal may be filled in.
