I spend a lot of time looking at the potential impacts of future climate on the Southeast. But I also read about what is happening in other parts of the world. Here is an interesting story from Alaska about how getting rain on top of snow is affecting the ecosystem, for example, making it harder for foxes to get mice under the snow because of the crust that forms on the snow when rain falls on top of a big snow pack. This is something that appears to be happening more frequently as the climate there warms. You can read more at Midwinter rain-on-snow a game changer.
