NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center put out their monthly and 3-month climate predictions today. The monthly forecast for August shows that some parts of the region lean slightly towards warmer than normal conditions, while other parts lean towards wetter than normal conditions. The August through October period shows a stronger tendency towards warmer and wetter conditions than normal across most of the region. The November through February maps show a pattern of warmer and drier than usual conditions across the Southeast consistent with a classic La Nina pattern. We are currently under a La Nina watch for an event that is expected to start by the September through November time frame.
