While most of the computer models of  Hurricane Dorian’s track at present keep the center of circulation offshore as it moves up the coast, there is still considerable uncertainty because of the slow movement of the storm and the weak steering currents. Because of this the governors of Georgia and South Carolina have decided to evacuate coastal areas of their states ahead of the storm because even if the eye stays offshore, there could still be strong gusty winds, storm surge and heavy rain. I have not seen what Florida is doing but assume they are also doing evacuations of vulnerable areas. If you are in one of these areas, please follow the recommendations of your local emergency managers and do whatever you can to keep yourself safe.
