Weather conditions that are getting warmer, more variable and more extreme are causing farmers to think about new ways to farm. One way is to move cultivation indoors where light, rainfall, and other factors can be controlled and production can occur all year. E&E News posted an interesting story about a huge indoor production facility in Fort Valley, GA, which is the size of 19 football fields doing just that. There are a lot of other benefits to indoor cultivation, including less erosion of soil and reduced wind and hail damage. However, the large facility would still be impacted by severe weather.
