The National Phenology Network tracks the advance of the “green wave” of first leaf and first bloom moving north in spring using volunteer observers who report their observations to the NPN. They have maps which show the progression of spring leaf out and first bloom on their web site, including an update on how this spring compares to normal leaf out dates. You can read more at https://www.usanpn.org/news/spring. At my house, most of my shrubs now have several leaves, and some of my spring flowering trees have flowers on the bare limbs. This corresponds with the map below, which shows that leaf out dates in my area are running about eight days earlier than normal.
