The latest set of outlook maps for January shows the continued impact of the weak La Niña that is currently occurring in the eastern Pacific Ocean.  Drier and warmer conditions than normal have a slightly increased chance of occurring in most of the Southeast but especially in south Florida.  The same pattern can be seen in the January-March period, with some enhanced chance of above-normal rainfall in northern GA and AL.  The result of this climate pattern is expected to be a reduction of drought in northern GA and AL and an expansion of drought in south GA and into Florida.
