The drought in the Southeast is now so bad that even Californians are taking note.  Here is an article on current conditions across the region in the Los Angeles Times.

Unfortunately, the latest Drought Monitor, released this morning, shows a continued expansion of all levels of drought and abnormally dry conditions across the Southeast.  With no rain in the forecast for this coming week, I expect drought to continue to expand on next week’s monitor.  The next real sign of rain in the long-range forecasts (for what they are worth) is around the November 19-21 time frame.  Note that this is a day slower than yesterday’s forecast, so don’t get your hopes up yet.
