The National Weather Service is considering making changes to the way forecasts are made and disseminated.  According to their press release here, they are planning to “realign staff and functions to deliver weather forecasts and warnings more effectively.”  While they say that it will not result in the closure of local NWS offices, it may result in reductions of staff and hours in some places.

Some NWS employees also worry that local forecasts will be degraded in the name of consistency over local personalization.  The Palm Beach Post has an article which describes the change in more detail at https://www.mypalmbeachpost.com/news/weather/weather-service-says-increase-in-severe-events-is-/nswCF/.
