The latest QPF forecast for the Southeast shows the lowest rainfall amounts for the next week are over the driest area in the region, where extreme drought expanded in this week’s Drought Monitor. The forecast indicates that little relief is on the way in those area and that drought may continue to get worse, especially since cooler fall temperatures are taking their time making it to the region. More rain in North Carolina may improve abnormally dry conditions there.
