Another week with little rain has led to the introduction of severe drought into parts of northeast Alabama and northwest Georgia.  Moderate drought also expanded in Alabama with the continuing dry conditions.  Unfortunately, the Climate Prediction Center has predicted more dry conditions in that area in the month of June, so no respite is immediately in sight.  The last time that part of Georgia was in severe drought was August, 2011.
