It’s now midway through June and here’s a look at the climate statistics so far. The temperature across the region is well above normal, with some areas reaching more than five degrees above the long-term mean. This continues the trend towards warmer June temperatures that has been occurring since about 1960.
Precipitation is generally fairly close to normal, with the wettest conditions in the western peninsula of Florida where TS Colin brought copious rain to the area, and northern Georgia and most of Alabama, which are continuing to be plagued by dry conditions. No major changes are expected for the rest of the month.
