The latest outlooks for the United States are available from the Climate Prediction Center. They show that for most of the Southeast, above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation have an increased chance of occurring both in July and the July through September period. This is a continuation of the pattern we have seen in recent weeks and is often seen in years with strong El Ninos. You can get updated maps at https://www.cpc.noaa.gov/. Cool and wet conditions are expected to continue in the central US as the pattern persists.
July through September outlook
Because of this pattern, drought conditions in southeast Georgia are expected to continue for the next few months, and drought may develop in the Carolinas as well.
