The Climate Prediction Center and numerous other groups are warning of a potential winter storm which is expected to impact parts of the Southeast early next week. The forecast models are in agreement that a significant winter storm is likely to occur, although they are still evolving on which areas will experience snow and which freezing rain. Some areas will receive heavy liquid rain as well. The hazard map put out by the Climate Prediction Center is shown below highlighting areas of special concern. You can see updated maps at https://www.cpc.noaa.gov/. CPC also notes the potential for much below normal temperatures through the next two weeks across the eastern 2/3 of the country. If you have events planned which will bring people in from significant distances, travel may be affected by the storm.
