The first tropical depression of the year has formed off the east coast of Florida.  The forecast cone for the depression is shown below.  At this point it is still fairly disorganized but is expected to strengthen and turn north.  It is likely that the Florida peninsula will feel some heavy rain and wind gusts, but most of the rest of the Southeast, except coastal areas, should be clear.  The most likely spot for impacts is eastern North Carolina and along the coast.  Visit the National Hurricane Center for updates.
