Happy New Year! This edition is PACKED with information. We have information about our annual premier competition: Project Achievement; summer camp information, and all the local events going on.

We also have a new staff person to welcome–Ms. Rachel Smith!

4-H Lingo

Cloverleaf: 4-H’er that is in 4th, 5th, or 6th grade
Junior: 4-H’er that is in 7th or 8th grade
Senior: 4-H’er in 9th-12th grades
County Council: monthly meeting for Junior and Senior 4-H’ers that focuses on leadership and life skills

5th Grade Clubs

We love seeing our 5th graders in their classrooms! Show your 4-H spirit when you earn points by wearing green, serving your community by bringing in can tabs, and participating in 4-H events outside of your classroom. MLC is ahead in our point contest (almost EVERYBODY there tried to name our cow!), but it is still early in our contest….

Summer Camp

INTERESTED IN SUMMER CAMP?! Make plans now to attend our Camp Interest Meeting: February 1, 2024. 6pm in the auditorium of Camden Campus-Coastal Georgia Community College (8001 Lakes Blvd in Kingsland). Registration is limited to first come, first served. Plan on turning in registration paperwork and your camp deposit to secure your spot! For more information about camps 4-H Summer Camp Web Page.

Camp Dates:

  • 5th & 6th Graders: July 1-5 @ Rock Eagle 4-H Center
  • 7th & 8th Graders: July 15-19 @ Burton 4-H Center
  • 9th-12th Graders: see website

4-H Project Achievement

Earn some points, gain some skills, and HAVE SOME FUN!

Step 1: Say YES! and decide on a topic that you want to learn about and share with us.
Step 2: RESEARCH your topic! Collect enough quality information to write a 5 paragraph paper to tell us about your project. You can do more, but 5 is the minimum.
Step 3: Create posters or a google slide presentation to show us what you are talking about. Be creative! Make your topic come alive!
Step 4: Turn your work in to your teacher, or have your parent email it to us! This step is worth 25 points!

TIMELINE:
Feb. 1: due date for your work to be turned in.
Feb. 14: winners chosen to advance to district notified.
Feb. 20 – Mar. 20: Workshops afterschool to get you ready for competition.
March 23:
District Competition in Bacon Co. Transportation provided for participants.

Upcoming Events

  • Cloverleaf Cooking: on hold until March 18(must have signed up for this program in September–we do have a wait list, so let us know if you are interested.)
  • Cloverleaf STEAM: Jan. 25, 5:30-7pm, drop in’s welcome. Meets in room 143 @ Coastal Georgia Community College in Kingsland.
  • County Council: (7th-12th grades only) Jan. 11, 5:30-7pm at our college location. Learn about budgeting! If you need to finalize your portfolio, come at 4:30pm.
  • Homeschool Clubs: February 1, 11:00-12:30. Grades 2nd-12th. Meets in room 143 @ Coastal Georgia Community College in Kingsland
  • Cloverleaf DPA entries due: February 1. Submit to your 4-H teacher, or share with us at camden4h@gmail.com
