Here are some things to think about when selecting peanut varieties this year.

GA-12Y:

  • Needs to be planted before May 10th
  • Must manage vine growth (PGR)
  • Protect it from Rhizoctonia Limb Rot
  • Best variety for white mold and Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus (TSWV)

GA-16HO

  • Watch for early leafspot
  • Some shedding of pods was witnessed this past year
  • High-oleic

GA-18RU

  • Can see more TSWV if planted in April with out Thimet
  • Yielding very well in trial plots
  • Has been grading very well

GA-06G

  • Old Faithful
  • Good level of TSWV resistance, increased with use of Thimet
  • Good yielder and grader
