Rain and more rain has been the story this week. This weather is ripe for an outbreak of disease.

Peanuts: leaf spot and white mold are active. If you haven’t sprayed your first fungicide yet I would do so as soon as I could get into the field. I would go with something systemic and throw in something for white mold. If you put Velum orThimet at planting then you should get a little leaf spot help from that. You can mix most of your fungicides with Cadre but leave out anything for grass control because of antagonism. A few Lesser Cornstalk Borers have been seen around the west side of town but hopefully, some of the rain will beat them back. Some have asked about tank mixing Cobra or Blazer with Cadre + Dual + 24DB. There is some risk of crop injury with a 4way mix but Dr. Prostko hasn’t experienced any major burn in his trials

Cotton: Aphids have been found in small quantities but not a major problem just yet. This rain should help keep them in check. Cotton is looking pretty good. Later planted cotton has been struggling with the weather. Some sunshine would really help it.

Corn: If you are pre tassel or early dent then don’t spray fungicide. If you spayed a fungicide 2 weeks ago, don’t spray right now but watch it. If you sprayed fungicide 3 weeks ago, check your corn’s growth stage before you spray again.
