Cold weather and the threat of severe storms on Saturday have kept us back some this week but it’s looking like next week should be a full go for most everyone. Here are some things that you can get a head start on before the furrow is closed.

  • Seedling diseases (Rhizoctonia & Pythium)
    • Waiting until soil temp is 65°F
    • Seed treatments
    • Plant good quality seed
    • In-furrow fungicide (insurance)
  • Nematodes
    • Seed treatments
    • Variety choice
    • Nematicides
  • CBR in peanuts – Proline in-furrow
  • Bacterial Blight in cotton – Variety choice
  • TSWV in peanuts – Peanut Rx

Corn has bounced back from the Easter cold snap fairly well. Snap beans are up and looking good. Early peanuts have been a little slow but seem to be coming along nicely. I haven’t seen much sorghum but there is some out there.
