Cold weather and the threat of severe storms on Saturday have kept us back some this week but it’s looking like next week should be a full go for most everyone. Here are some things that you can get a head start on before the furrow is closed.
- Seedling diseases (Rhizoctonia & Pythium)
- Waiting until soil temp is 65°F
- Seed treatments
- Plant good quality seed
- In-furrow fungicide (insurance)
- Nematodes
- Seed treatments
- Variety choice
- Nematicides
- CBR in peanuts – Proline in-furrow
- Bacterial Blight in cotton – Variety choice
- TSWV in peanuts – Peanut Rx
Corn has bounced back from the Easter cold snap fairly well. Snap beans are up and looking good. Early peanuts have been a little slow but seem to be coming along nicely. I haven’t seen much sorghum but there is some out there.
