It’s hot, dry and looks like it will be that way for a little while. We have had several people call in with questions on hemp production. Here is our statement on hemp production until further notice.

“As you probably know, the Governor signed the budget and one particular bill of interest was the Hemp Bill. The Department of Ag has released a statement with more information. We have some cantaloupes that should be coming off very soon. Japan removed its age limit on beef imports so I’m expecting to see a rise in beef prices over the next few weeks but it may not be much because I’ve read reports where economist are  estimating that 3 million acres o corn won’t be planted so that could shoot the corn market up and inversely affect the cattle market. By the way, I’m doing some genomic testing in replacement heifers this year and I may have some extra DNA kits if you or anyone you know might want to participate in some heifer genomic testing; just let me know. One rumor that I have heard this week is that we might, I stress might, be getting a label for hooded applications of Xtendimax, Engenia, and Fexapan. I’ll let you know more as it unfolds.
