Georgia Ag Week is starting this week, and runs from March 17 through 23. This week is a time to shout out and celebrate our farmers and farm families for their amazing work and dedication to feeding and clothing the world.
The Georgia Department of Agriculture has planned a week full of community events, educational programs, and farm tours. See the full schedule here

Within this week, the Agriculture Council of America hosts celebrations for National Ag Day on Tuesday, March 18th, to recognize and celebrate the abundance provided by U.S. farmers and ranchers.
This year’s theme is “Together, We Grow” and I absolutely love it.
In farming, like in life, it is nearly impossible to grow anything in isolation. Plants need other plants for cross pollination, some even talk to each other through their roots (read this article on mycorrhizal networks if you think I’m kidding) for survival.
Just like plants, we need to be connected with others in order to thrive. Isolation can be deadly. It’s only when we’re together that we grow.
So for this Ag week, let’s do two things. First, let’s connect with others we care about to give ourselves a boost of energy and joy. Second, let’s thank and celebrate every farmer we know this week (those of you who are producers, this means celebrating and being proud of yourself!).
Actually, let’s do this every week. It’ll help keep us, and all farmers, thriving.
