Getting your Trinity Audio player ready…

Well, the Sunbelt Ag Expo is over, and it was an amazing event with blue skies and about 50,000 people passing through the gates. UGA Extension invested so much time and energy there this week, including sharing lots of information through the Rural Georgia Growing Stronger initiative, where we handed out resources on stress management and wellbeing. We also got to talk with lots of producers about the most stressful aspects of finances for farmers–we’ll use this information to strengthen our resources on the most pressing financial topics for farmers.

We also had a joint press conference with the Georgia Departments of Behavioral Health and of Agriculture and Georgia Farm Bureau, to talk about our joint and collaborative commitment to farmer mental health and wellbeing. Within UGA we have our own collaborative commitment to farmer wellbeing, working together across Extension, Family and Consumer Sciences, Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication, Social Work, and other departments. Working together, and working with all of you across Georgia and the nation, we’ll do everything we can to make sure everyone is thriving on the farm.
