Oglethorpe County 4-H took fifteen 4-H’ers, the most in recent history, to Rock Eagle to compete for honors at Junior/ Senior District Project Achievement on March 7-9, 2025. Middle and high school 4-H’ers showed off their presentation and writing skills through their 4-H demonstrations and 4-H project portfolios. Approximately 455 4-H’ers from Northeast District competed.
Junior 4-H’ers did very well at District Project Achievement. We had many 1st and 2nd place winners! First place Junior winners were: Luke Bell in the Housing Project, Hannah Boyd in the Horse Project, Blane Latimer in the Dog Care & Training Project, and Lou Miller in the Forestry Project! Junior’s placing 2nd were: Nolan Green in the General Recreation Project, Mae Mathews in the Sports Project, and Annalea Tillman in the Horse Project! Other outstanding Junior competitors were: JT Mathews in the Wildlife Project and Finley Sullivan in the Sports Project.
Senior 4-H’ers did an outstanding job! Two Oglethorpe County 4-H’ers placed first in their project categories and earned a trip to Georgia 4-H State Congress in Atlanta in July! Those students are: Montana Barner in the Wildlife and Marine Science Project and Abigail Whitney in the Dairy Project! Placing 3rd was Abby Gabriel in the Horse Project. Also competing were: Dosie Blount in the General Recreation Project, Audrey Green in the Housing Project, and Dove Patrick in the Communications Project!
We are very proud of all our 4-H’ers and strongly encourage them to keep up their hard work! The 4-H’ers were led by the 4-H Agent Marcus Eason and 4-H Americorps member Kayla Latimer.
