On June 21st, our Oglethorpe 4H’ers participated in our annual Farm Tour. First, we visited Little Rose Farm, a farm that uses hydroponics and organic methods to grow various crops. The 4H’ers had a blast splashing around and exploring in the creek! Next, we visited Team Reynolds Show Goat Farm. The kids learned about what qualities are important for show goats and even got to meet the horses. After a quick lunch sponsored by Oglethorpe County Farm Bureau, we visited the Koi Store – a Japanese koi fish-farming operation. Seeing the beautiful koi fish in various life stages and their aquaponics system was fascinating. Lastly, we visited Classic City Flowers and Nursery. The 4H’ers learned about various types of flowers. They even got to create flower art and take plants home. Thank you to all of these unique farms for letting us visit!
