We had an awesome time Sunday, May 21st, honoring our 4-H VIPs at our Red Carpet Awards Banquet! In addition to celebrating all our kids’ accomplishments, we honored our volunteers and donors who help make all the amazing programming we offer possible. We couldn’t do it without them, our school system faculty and staff, and the wonderful parents and guardians who support these kids!

Our Volunteer of the Year Award went to Raven Cooper for her hard work and dedication with our Horse Quiz Bowl teams (1st Place State Junior Team and 4th Place State Junior Team) and our Hippology Team (5th Place State Junior Team).
The Friend of 4-H Award went to Elbert County Gun Club for their support of our shooting teams over the years. Their financial and logistical support played a large part in helping our Shotgun Team place 3rd in the State in the Senior Division!

We celebrated Nick Elder becoming a Master 4-H’er with his 1st Place Senior Individual State win in the Shotgun Competition. This honor is equivalent to an Eagle Scout, and we are so proud of Nick for all his hard work and dedication to his craft!

We awarded 1st Annual Oglethorpe County 4-H Scholarship to Kate Spearing, who will be attending Mississippi State University and joining the Air Force ROTC. Kate has been active in 4-H throughout high school, and has been President for the last 4 years. She placed 1st at Senior DPA in her division in March, and will be competing to earn her Master 4-H’er status at State Congress later this summer. We had some amazing applicants with stellar resumes, and we wish everyone the best of luck with their future endeavors!
Thank you to our Extension staff, parents, and volunteers for making this day special for your kids.
Special thank you to Heather Feather Photography for being our paparazzi for the afternoon!
