Read on for more professional development opportunities from ACRES!
Afterschool Coaching for Reflective Educators in STEM (ACRES) online professional development course through the Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance is funded by NSF: https://mmsa.org/projects/acres/. Over 40 Georgia 4-H professionals participated in the Virtualizing Your Out-of-School Offerings course over the summer. It was a huge success!
The Virtualizing Your Out-of-School Offerings course will be offered this fall in addition to more online training opportunities. Anyone can participate. In addition to this course, ACRES is offering two introductory courses this fall (1)Ready, Set, STEM! & Asking Purposeful Questions and (2) Asking Purposeful Questions. One of these courses must be completed before advancing to any additional learning opportunities. Information about these courses, cohort dates/times, etc. is found below and on the ACRES website: https://mmsa.org/projects/acres/join-a-cohort/.
- Register with ACRES.
- List of Cohorts: https://mmsa.org/projects/acres/join-a-cohort/
- Registration Link: https://airtable.com/embed/shrtLGluXJnndEvQe?.
- Please TYPE in the cohort code as opposed to selecting from the drop-down menu. Sometimes, the sessions don’t show up unless you type the code.
- Please note Georgia 4-H does not coordinate these sessions. Therefore, I will not have the Zoom links, information regarding assignments.
Following these steps will ensure you give you credit for participating!
A few things to consider before registering:
- When you select a cohort, you are committing to attending all three sessions for that cohort.
- Be prepared to have your camera and microphone ready and working. The sessions are highly interactive; they expect you to talk. ACRES staff desires active participation.
- The registration form mentions having access to youth for you to practicing teaching activities. This is for a typical cohort, and you will likely have to do some sort of teaching (in-person or virtual) to youth.
- As part of their grant with the National Science Foundation, ACRES may offer participation stipends – if you complete all three sessions in the same cohort. Work with your CEC/PDC/DED regarding accepting the stipend.
