The Schools Empowering At-Risk Students (SEAS) project with the Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness at Penn State partners with the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) on projects related to student support services such as suicide prevention, threat assessment, and problematic sexual behavior.
As part of that effort, we have developed and maintain an online resource entitled: Resources for Military-Connected Schools website (https://schoolresources.militaryfamilies.psu.edu/). The goal of the website is to connect school personnel with evidence-based resources to support military-connected students.
As you know, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced schools and families to adapt quickly. There are many, many resources being created for school personnel and parents who have been thrust into new roles. The situation can be overwhelming, thus the SEAS team at the Clearinghouse wanted to curate a small collection of free toolkits from outside organizations, agencies, and companies to help schools respond to the needs of military families during the pandemic. Resources were identified, vetted, and selected based on utility, applicability, reputability of the developer, and evidence. The end result can be found at https://schoolresources.militaryfamilies.psu.edu/resources/covid-19/.
