Registration is now open for the Georgia 4-H Pantry Pride Recipe Contest. For this contest, participants develop a recipe using ingredients commonly found in food banks. Senior participants with the top 16 entries are invited to compete in a live competition at the Georgia National Fair, conditions permitting.
This event is a great way to introduce youth to the concepts of food access, food security, and service, as well as nutrition.
Contest Goals:
1. Raise awareness about poverty and hunger in Georgia.
2. Challenge 4-H’ers to think creatively about food and cooking by developing recipes using ingredients commonly found in Georgia Food Banks.
3. Educate 4-H’ers about the cost of food, and what it takes to feed a family.
4. Provide youth and families across Georgia with a “recipe bank” for inexpensive, nutritious meals.
Please see Event Registration and Event Downloads for complete contest information.
Please note that the deadline for the SENIOR entries is earlier than for Cloverleaf and Junior entries. This is because these entries must be received in time to determine which participants will be eligible to compete live at the fair, conditions permitting.
Deadline for Senior Entries (High School Youth): August 10th, 5pm
Deadline for Junior and Cloverleaf Entries(Middle School and Elementary Youth): September 10th, 5pm
