The Month of the Military Child: As military communities across the United States and overseas continue to practice social distancing, it’s more important than ever to celebrate the Month of the Military Child! We are excited to launch a partnership effort across the Services, 4-H, and BGCA to celebrate military-connected youth through a #VirtualMOMC social media celebration! Throughout April, please join the celebration by promoting a virtual Month of the Military Child on social media using the hashtag #VirtualMOMC.

Garden Curriculum Resource:

UGA Extension is offering a training on Garden Earth Naturalist. The training will highlight the free, research-based curriculum. The online training is on 8/25/2020 form 10-12 AM. To review and start using the curriculum now download the lessons directly from the National Education Association website. Lessons are for kindergarten, second grade, fourth grade, sixth grade, and eighth grade. The focus of the lessons is more on the connection with science as opposed to managing a 4-H club garden.

UGA Extension has a program called Georgia Master Gardener Sprouts, which is kids ages 6-8. Popular children’s literature provides a base for each of the six sessions. Groups read a garden-related story aloud and explore the world of plants through hands-on horticulture, writing, games, and other fun activities. MG SPROUTS materials are available on the site as a PDF download. Counties throughout the state have adult and children Master Gardner Sprouts programs; however, the adult programs are more common. Depending on your plans 1-day program, afterschool garden club, and so forth there is room for partnerships with trained Master Garden volunteers and County Agriculture Agents.
