Whether you are a county agent, volunteer coordinating a 4-H activity, or military base staff member you are tasked with lesson and event plans. Planning for 4-H activities is fun because programming ranges from a variety of topics. While most activities will occur onsite for 4-H sometimes youth professionals choose to plan events away from the “home base.” This can be challenging for coordinators, because it requires coordination for a bus, meal plans, extra volunteers, unique lesson/activity plans, creating weather back up plans, and extra expense. However, getting the youth to experience new places and taking them out of their comfort zone is worth it.

In today’s blog post I want to highlight Georgia 4-H’s Environmental Education Program.  Having planned several educational trips start to finish I can really appreciate when I am able to turn the program planning over to someone else. This is not only great for a busy professional tasked with planning several events but for the teens too. Having someone else plan the program means youth will likely have a different experience, because they will be learning from someone different. The Georgia 4-H Environmental Education program handles teaching the lessons, creating the schedule for your group, can provide a place for lodging and meals if needed, and additional resources to make your experience exceptional.  Can you imagine the only thing you have to worry about is advertising and transportation?

So, where exactly are environmental education (EE) programs located through GA. 4-H? EE is located at our 4-H Centers: Wahsega 4-H Center, Camp Jekyll, Burton 4-H Center, Fortson 4-H Center, and Rock Eagle 4-H Center. The awesome thing is programming can be onsite or if you are close enough to the center they even bring staff to you for an onsite field trip.
