A winter storm with strong impacts moves through the state this weekend and like many of you, we are following Pam Knox’s blog for updates. If your area does get snow and you are a CoCoRaHS observer, please take your snow measurements and enter them into the database to help out the NWS team prepare their final snow maps. Tips from CoCORaHS on measuring in snowy weather are included in this post.
In a few weeks, on February 12, 2026 at 2 PM, we will learn more from Pam Knox, Director of the UGA Weather Network, as she kicks off the 2026 Thoughtful Thursday series with a session on 2026 Weather Expectations. Thoughtful Thursdays are monthly continuing education webinar series with Extension experts covering turf, vegetables, diseases, climate updates and more via online Zoom meetings brought to you by the Georgia Master Gardener Extension Volunteer State Program Office, offered at 2-2:30 PM on the second Thursday of every month, February – November. The Zoom meeting link is shared via email before the session from the State Program Office and/or your Extension office.
I am local to the UGA Griffin campus and I’ll include a few pictures below from the pretty snowy morning we had last Sunday. Stay safe and warm this weekend!
