Georgia MGEVs are unique individuals who use their enthusiasm about plants and gardening to support UGA Extension programming in consumer horticulture. We think that taking a few minutes to celebrate their great work and accomplishments is important! This year, the Georgia Master Gardener Program is celebrating 45 years of service, we are excited to share more about our incredible volunteers and their projects during Volunteer Appreciation Week this week! We are sharing posts made to social media here on the Trellis blog to be sure all MGEVs can be a part of this week’s virtual celebration. Our 45th celebration webpage has even more info you’ll want to check out, including all the details on Open Garden Days and a fun video!
In addition, the CAES Newswire shared an article about this special week. It starts by recognizing “University of Georgia Cooperative Extension depends on thousands of volunteers who give generously to extend program impact and reach in support of Extension missions. During Volunteer Appreciation Week April 21-28, UGA Extension celebrates the many volunteers who donate their time to facilitate Georgia 4-H, Master Gardener Extension Volunteer and Family and Consumer Sciences programming at the county, district and state levels. Volunteers across Extension contributed over 324,200 hours in 2023, the equivalent of more than 155 full-time employees.” -from the CAES Newswire: https://newswire.caes.uga.edu/…/extension-volunteer… (click the link to read the full article)
