I hope everyone is doing well. In light of Macon County moving to a shelter-in-place, the Macon County Extension/4-H office will be closed from 3/27/20 to 4/7/20. We are still taking calls, collecting samples and conducting field visits.
For now, the labs are still open and are operating on a day-to-day basis. They are only conducting certain tests:
- W1: Basic Water Test
- W2: GA Expanded Water Test
- W24: Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD)
- W33: GA – Certification for Drinking Water Providers
- W33C: Dept. of Public Health: Private Well Chemical Test
- W35: Total Coliform / E. coli (Colilert)
- F1: Hays and Silage (NIR + nitrate + minerals)
- F2: Hays and Silage (NIR + nitrate, excluding minerals)
- F3: Hays and Silage (NIR only)
- S1: Routine Soil Test
- P1: Basic Plant Test
The lab is working with limited personnel so samples may take a little longer to process. If the lab shuts down, we will inform you as soon as we are told. If you have samples that need to be sent off, please call Carla Odum at 478-235-1932 or email (crodom3@uga.edu) to arrange for drop off. Invoices will be sent when the sample results come in.
If you have any questions about 4-H events or updates, please contact Rachael Tyler at 478-286-0006 or email (rdeuel@uga.edu).
Please call me at 478-957-6700 or email (madison.warbington25@uga.edu) for any agricultural needs.
Hopefully the Covid-19 outbreak will be over soon and things can get back to normal. I apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
As always, if you have any questions please give me a call or contact your local County Agent.
