A cotton variety trial was planted in Evans County by Del Beasley with the help of Candler/Evans County ANR Agent Ross Greene back on May 19, 2021. The variety trial was located at Del’s farm off of Bowen Store road north of highway 169 in Evans County. The trial consisted of 12 different corn varieties from different seed companies with three replications of each variety. The on-farm corn trial was harvested on November 19, 2021 by Ricky Nevil, and the yield results are listed down below.
I want to thank Mr. Del Beasley for hosting the cotton plot for us this year, and Deltapine, Stoneville, Phytogen, Nexgen, Armor, and Dyna-Gro seeds for donating us the seed for this plot. We would not be able to do plots like this without their support so thank your local seed reps, and Mr. Del Beasley when you see them. I also would like to thank Mr. Ricky Nevil for harvesting it for us, and Dr. Camp Hand for providing us a set of scales and weighing the plots. If any of you are interested in doing a plot next year please let me know so we can make preparations.
