Asian Soybean Rust Update (Bob Kemerait)
“Our first find of Asian soybean rust in Georgia was confirmed on KUDZU from Attapulgus area in Decatur County on 12 of 50 leaves sampled. We have not found it there in past weeks. This suggests that conditions are very favorable and the pathogen is now present.
Recommendation; Soybean producers in SW Georgia area are encouraged to consider use of a fungicide to protect their crop from rust as the crop reaches (or approaches) the R3 (early pod development stage). We will continue to watch for development and spread.”
