I can hear it raining outside my window this morning in Athens, but once this rain moves through over the weekend, we should see a mostly dry week for north Georgia and western parts of the Carolinas and Virginia, with most of the rain focused on areas along the coasts. The rain today is associated with a developing low pressure center off the East Coast, which is pulling in some moisture from the ocean and dropping it as rain. Eastern North Carolina and Virginia will receive significant rain from this storm before it moves out later in the week.
Once the low moves out to the north, things should be dry until late in the week when a few light showers could occur in most areas although Florida will be wetter. There is no tropical activity of concern for us this week other than a chance of development for the coastal storm as it moves over the Gulf Stream. TS Gordon will stay far out to sea and will not be a factor.
