The latest 7-day QPF map shows that after the showers in the eastern parts of the Southeast move out today, we should have a mostly dry week for nearly all of the region. The exception is eastern North and South Carolina, under the influence of a weak disturbance that could briefly become a subtropical storm before it moves out. Those areas are like to see rain from that system for the next day or so. The dry conditions that follow will allow farmers to get back into their fields and harvest or do other fieldwork. By the end of the week, northwestern Alabama is expected to see some showers ahead of an approaching cold front. Rainier conditions are expected to return with the front in week 2. The tropics continue to be quiet, other than the disturbance off the Carolinas.
