For those of you wondering how to know when to expect high levels of heat stress on livestock, the USDA has a great web site which contains daily heat stress maps for the US for up to a week ahead.  Today’s forecast for Monday June 13 shows high levels of heat in a large area of eastern Georgia and southern South Carolina, for example.  You can also find links to look at heat stress in other parts of the country.  If heat stress is high for livestock, it will also be high for outdoor workers.

Here’s the link to the heat stress forecast page: https://www.ars.usda.gov/Main/docs.htm?docid=21306.
