The fall equinox is occurring this year on September 22, 2024, at 8:44 am EDT. On the equinox, the sun appears directly above the earth’s equator, and days and nights are almost (but not exactly) of equal length. Of course, climatological fall started on September 1, so we are already partway through the autumn season.
