Another dry weekend is in store for most of the Southeast as the strong high pressure system continues to dominate the local weather. The high will gradually retreat to the east, allowing more flow from the Gulf of Mexico, bringing moisture back to the areas that have been quite dry. In addition, by midweek we could be seeing impacts from a tropical system which is currently organizing in the Caribbean and is expected to make landfall later in the week. Because the system is not well organized, models are having a hard time determining exactly how strong and where it is likely to go, so you should watch the tropics closely as things evolve. One good thing is that it is likely to bring much-needed moisture to areas in the Southeast that have seen growing drought, but the timing is not ideal for those who are in the middle of harvest.
