The latest 7-day QPF map shows that little rain will fall again this week, and nearly all of what does fall will not occur until next weekend. The high pressure that will be over us for most of the week will keep any rain-producing weather away and will bring warmer than usual temperatures to the region, increasing evaporation and drying the soil. The exception is Virginia, the northern edge of North Carolina, and the higher elevations, with more of the region expected to see a few showers and less than half an inch of rain late in the week for everywhere except Tennessee and northern Alabama, which will receive quite a bit more as the next storm system approaches. Warmer than normal temperatures are expected to occur for most of the next 3-4 weeks, but rain chances will increase in weeks two through four.
