Usually producers don’t worry too much about drought in the winter, since cold temperatures limit the evaporation and dormant plants don’t need much water. But the large area of drought in the western US is causing some concern for farmers there because the La Nina is expected to make things drier over the next few months, which could make drought get worse rapidly once we go into warmer conditions.
