The latest 7 day QPF map shows that rain will be reentering the Southeast after a long hiatus sometime around mid-week. While the QPF map shows as much as 7 inches in the mountainous regions, I think that is likely an overestimate of actual rainfall amounts. Still, many places in the drought-stricken areas could see 1-4 inches from this storm. Unfortunately, the rain won’t affect southern Georgia and northern Florida this week, which could lead to an expansion of dry conditions there. I for one intend to go out and dance in it!
Here is a discussion of the event’s impact on Alabama at https://www.alabamawx.com/?p=107758. The timing will be a little later for Georgia but you can get the general idea.
