The State Climate Office of North Carolina is hosting a webinar this coming Thursday to discuss the latest information about the drought that is affecting the Southeast. While it will focus on North Carolina, I expect that the general information about how the drought began and how it is evolving will be of interest to us all in the Southeast and so I plan to attend. You can find more information or register using the link in the image below.
Our cool-season drought has now stretched into the warm season, pushing it to extreme levels with visible impacts across North Carolina ranging from low water levels to high wildfire danger. Join us on Thursday, April 23rd at 11 am for a webinar about this ongoing drought and its effects, presented by some of the experts who guide our state’s weekly drought assessment: Corey Davis, Assistant State Climatologist at the State Climate Office, Klaus Albertin, Chair of the NC DMAC at the Division of Water Resources, Jamie Dunbar, Fire Environment Staff Forester at NC Forest Service, Barrett Smith, Senior Service Hydrologist at NWS Raleigh. For those attending live, we will reserve time for Q&A at the end. The webinar will also be recorded and posted afterwards, along with a summary blog post on our Climate Blog.
