The latest 7-day QPF map shows that rain in the next week should be relatively light. Most of it will fall in the period from Thursday morning in northwestern Alabama and then progressing through the region Thursday night into Saturday morning before the weekend dries out. After that front moves through, temperatures will rebound to much warmer values and it is expected to stay warmer and drier than normal for the rest of December and through the first third of January. No White Christmas for the Southeast this year! The light rain this week coupled with little rain expected for the next few weeks means that another expansion of drought and dry conditions can be expected going into the start of 2026.
