We are now in the thick of summer, and June was warmer than normal in most of the region. The exception was in most of Alabama and parts of Georgia and South Carolina, where the most rain fell. Generally, wetter than normal conditions in those areas helped eliminate the drought there, but drier than normal conditions in Florida and parts of the East Coast kept some small areas of abnormally dry conditions and drought there, and in a few places it even expanded slightly in the last week.
