The latest 7-day QPF map shows that everyone in the Southeast should get some rain this week, but the amounts may vary depending on where you are. The heaviest rain looks like it will occur in southwestern Alabama and Georgia and the lightest amounts are likely to be in northeast Georgia and northwestern South Carolina. This will be typical summertime rain, so amounts can vary a lot over short distances. Here in Athens, I have received less than an inch so far in June but a friend just a few miles away has received almost 4 inches in the same time frame. So your results may vary. Week 2 shows a pretty good chance of warmer than normal temperatures and just a slight lean towards wetter than normal conditions. We are seeing a plume of Saharan dust traveling across the Atlantic and reaching Key West and other parts of the Southeast, so that should help keep tropical activity to a minimum for now.
