A new book on the impact of hurricanes on the history of the United States is going to be released later this summer, and it looks like it will be very interesting. Smithsonian posted a story about the book, A Furious Sky: The Five-Hundred Year History of America’s Hurricanes in their latest magazine issue. I plan to buy a copy and am looking forward to reading more about it. Of course the Southeast has a prominent role because of its location, but hurricanes have affected other parts of the US as well, including the Northeast and the western Gulf Coast.
