With all the rain we have had this year, and with the Atlantic tropical season just around the corner, it is a good time to think about flooding. You can purchase flood insurance for your home, no matter how near or far you are from a river, but you have to have it at least 30 days before a flooding event, so if you think you might be vulnerable, now is the time to buy it. Even if you don’t think you need it, it can be an inexpensive way of protecting your property from a major event. There are also other things you can do to minimize flood damage. You can read more about how to protect your home at Yale Climate Connections here.
